How boat hire in Perth works

Private boat hire with a skipper, crew and a clear price.

Tell us your date, guest count and where you want to go, and we will match you with the right boat. Every hire is fully private, so the boat is yours for the whole trip. A licensed skipper and crew handle the driving, mooring and safety, and you can focus on your guests.

Most of our boats have a BBQ, iceboxes or fridges, a sound system and toilets on board. Larger vessels add air-conditioned saloons, flybridges, swim platforms, bars and dance floors. You can bring your own food and drinks on most boats, or we can arrange catering.

Swan River cruises: 2 to 6 hours past the Perth city skyline, Kings Park, Matilda Bay and Fremantle.
Rottnest Island boat hire: 4 to 8 hour island days with swim stops, snorkelling and lunch in a quiet bay.
Carnac Island trips: a shorter ocean run from Fremantle for sea lions, swimming and clear water.
Swan Valley winery cruises: one-way or return river trips from Perth to the wineries, depending on the tide.

Our boats & prices

Perth boat hire fleet: 44 boats from 12 to 200 guests

All 44 boats operate in the Perth area only: the Swan River, Fremantle, Rottnest Island, Carnac Island, Hillarys and the Swan Valley. They are not available in Broome. Every boat comes with a licensed skipper and crew, so nobody in your group needs a boat licence. Prices include GST and are based on departure from East Fremantle or Fremantle unless noted. Pick-ups from Perth, Melville and other jetties are listed under each boat's extras.

Barrack Street Jetty at Elizabeth Quay and Mends Street Jetty in South Perth. A pick-up fee applies on most boats and is listed under each boat's extras.

Melville & western suburbs

JoJo's (Nedlands), Claremont and Mosman Park jetties. Some boats pick up here for free.

Hillarys & Port Coogee

Selected boats leave from Hillarys Boat Harbour or Port Coogee for northern coast and Rottnest trips.

How much does boat hire in Perth cost?

Our skippered boats start from $1,350 for a 3-hour Swan River cruise for up to 12 or 18 guests. Rottnest Island trips start from $2,100 for 4 hours, and boats for 100+ guests start from $4,260 for 4 hours. Every boat's full price list is shown above. Prices include GST.

Do I need a boat licence to hire a boat?

No. Every boat comes with a licensed skipper and crew who drive the boat and look after safety, so nobody in your group needs a licence.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

On most boats, yes. Many have a BBQ, iceboxes and fridges on board. Licensed vessels such as River Bells and Decoy don't allow BYO, and Moonlight Express and Classique allow BYO for a fee. We confirm the rules for your boat in your quote.

Where do the boats leave from?

Prices are based on departure from East Fremantle or Fremantle. Pick-ups from Elizabeth Quay (Barrack Street Jetty), South Perth (Mends Street Jetty), Claremont, Mosman Park, JoJo's and Hillarys are available for an extra fee on most boats.

Can we take a hired boat to Rottnest Island?

Yes. Most boats for 12 to 100 guests can do Rottnest Island trips, usually for 6 to 8 hours. Government Rottnest landing and entry fees may apply.

When should we book?

Book as early as possible for October to March and the Christmas party season. Some boats are seasonal: Ohana runs October to March, Two Seas December to February, and Diversity II and Odyssey in December only.
